Shihan Diana Watts is Chief Instructor at Okinawan Martial Arts. She began her training
in 1988 and worked with a number of different instructors over the years including Kyoshi Frank Hargrove, Kyoshi Doug Perry
and her current instructor, Kyoshi Pat Haley. Currently she is a 4th Dan. Her favourite class to teach is Kata
and she can be found in the Dojo most nights finetuning her student's moves. Shihan Watts resides with her husband,
Sensei Geoff Watts and their three children: Sarah, Geoffrey and Jacy. All have been active in the Martial Arts
over the years.
The healing arts is yet another facet of Martial Arts. Shihan Watts is a Reiki Master
and applies her skills to a select clientelle. Reiki is a Japaneese healing art and works to restore balance in
the energy within and around the body. A body in a state of balance tends to heal itself: burns heal faster, breaks
mend sooner, bleeding slows etc. Rei translates to Spirit, Soul or Universal and Ki translates to Energy: put
them together and you get "Spirit Energy". Diana is also a Therapeutic Touch, level 3, practitioner and a Shamanic Counsellor.
Sensei Steve Lefneski has been teaching at Okinawan Martial Arts for a number of years.
He is a 4th Dan. His favourite class to teach is applications or "Bunkai". Sensei Lefneski can be found early
Sunday mornings practicing at the park and getting "down and dirty".
Sensei Geoff Watts recently earned his Nidan. His favourite class is the Wednesday night
"Bunkai" class with Sensei Lefneski and he enjoys learning first hand how all the moves feel when they are applied correctly.
Senseis John and Dianne Greenwood are Nidans.
